Cu grație senină ea mi-a aruncat un val suav pe deasupra ochilor

Și mi-a furat chipul.
Mi-a șoptit un descântec și mi-a promis iubire:
"Vei cunoaște fericirea și extazul și mireasma dulce a milioanelor de ochi care te vor indrăgi și azi și mâine și iar..."
Aș vrea să strig, să o chem la mine, să o ating o dată, o singura dată!
Nu-i cunosc numele și nici culoarea, i-aș recunoaște atingerea dintr-o mie...
Mi-e frig și îmi vreau chipul înapoi.
Ce este frumusețea?

FRUMUSETI si PASARI

Acest proiect este o continuare a proiectului „Intimate Zoomorphism of Spirit” realizat in 2009 la Berlin. Plecand de la aceeasi idee am restrans subiectul creand o relatie in care frumusetea si gratia umana sunt reflectate atat prin ele insele cat si prin simboluri animaliere. Simbolul animalier apare in stransa legatura cu omul purtator. De aceea il mai numesc si "Zoomorfismul frumusetii umane".

De ce frumuseti?

In primul rand pentru ca nu m-am putut abtine. Sunt o mare admiratoare a frumosului si il vanez oriunde as fi. Prin frumos inteleg o atittudine, un gest, o atmosfera, o linie anume, gratie. Ceva ce te atrage fara nici o sansa de scapare si te face sa-ti lipesti privirea fara s-o mai poti desprinde. In al doilea rand pentru ca suntem inconjurati de suficienta uratenie, rautate si ura incat imi doresc sa inclin balanta in partea cealalta. Simt ca este datoria mea.

De ce pasari?

Pentru ca dintotdeauna aceasta specie a regnului animaier a inspirat si simbolizat exact ceea ce vreau eu sa transmit: gratie, eleganta si frumusete. In plus, este un foarte puternic simbol feminin. Astfel le-am folosit ca pe niste proiectii ale personajelor umane. Un fel de cheie ce descifreaza o intentie, o dorinta sau un sentiment din intimitate.

Si pentru ca traim intr-o lume in care aproape totul este modificat genetic, mecanizat si industrializat, pasarile create poarta astfel de urme, avand elemente si mecanisme metalice. Aceste elemenete apar recurent in lucrarile mele fiind un subiect ce ma tot apasa.

BEAUTIES and BIRDS

This project is actually an extension of another project I’ve made in 2009 in Berlin, “Intimate Zoomorphism of Spirit”. Starting from the same point I’ve restricted the subject to create a relationship where human beauty, delicacy and elegance are reflected through themselves as well as through animal symbols. I am using the animal symbol in strong relationship to the human carrier. It’s why I would also call this project Zoomorphism of Human Beauty.

Why beauties?
First because I couldn’t help it. I am a huge admirer of beauty and I hunt it wherever I am. When I say beauty I mean an attitude, a gesture, an ambience, a certain style, gracefulness... an unavoidable attraction that captures your attention and you can’t get away from it anymore.
Second because we are surrounded by too much ugliness, meanness and hate that I wish to tip the balance to the other side. I feel it’s my duty.

Why birds?
Since forever this branch of the animal kingdom inspired and symbolized exactly what I want to show: gracefulness, elegance, beauty. On top of that, it’s a powerful feminine symbol. Thus I’ve used them as projections of my human characters. It’s a key that decipher an intimate intention, desire or feeling.
And because we live in a world where almost everything is genetically modified, mechanized and industrialized, the birds I create carry the marks of this world. They have metallic elements and mechanisms. These elements appear repeatedly in my works, as they are a subject that obsesses me.

iDOLLs prezinta o viziune asupra falsilor idoli feminini, ce sunt popularizati la TV si pe internet.
Proiectul scoate in evidenta un fenomen ce merge din ce in ce mai multcatre extrem si promoveaza transformarea fizica completa, urmata de ceadigitala, la final aparand si iminenta transformare de personalitate.Acest fenomen are ca tinta in general sexul feminin in etapaadolescenta si post-adolescenta, cand sistemul de valori abia secladeste si se formeaza personalitatea.
Este un protest fata de promovarea frumusetii artificiale siindoctrinarea unui anume canon de frumusete, ce deseori se asociaza cuinfatisarea unei papusi.

iDOLLs shows a different vision regarding the false idols of present days women, promoted both on TV and Internet.
This project reveals a phenomenon going to the extremes: physicaltransformation of one's self, followed by a digital makeover and theimminent personality shift. This remarkable yet unfortunate developmenttargets the feminine gender in their adolescence and later. It's aperiod when girls develop their personality and their value system.
You will see a protest towards artificial beauty and indoctrination ofa beauty standard. This beauty standard is often associated with theappearance of a doll.

Diary Windows project is a reflexive visual journal. It’s a way of introspection and discovery rising from the need to uncover the hidden world of my inner self. The study of this work started with two questions: Does this diary helps in any way to denounce ourselves and excavate our deep inner self? How sincerely and accurately could a vision or a memory be reproduced?

The pages of the diary are the actual paintings, the canvas, expressing my feelings, my moods and reaction to happenings, before and during the work on this project. I transfer all these through various colours, characters and symbolic objects, giving birth to an inside monologue illustrated in relation to my environment.

The project contains 7 paintings, a sequence of my prominent moods and feelings. These moods create only a sketch of the diary, being completed through it. They are but fractions of ideas that make an impression and then haunt me. I see them as either singular or repeating pictures, imaginary or real.

I use colours with a powerful symbolism, unveiling my inner state. Throughout the project’s works one will find elements and symbols that keep repeating, helping to understand the substance and “story” behind each work.

Mosaikenis proposing to the German public a sample of very young Romanian art.This art is young by age but also by its instrumentality and artisticidentity within the Romanian art context, that is more and more presentbeyond its borders.

Mosaikenmeans 5 distinct artistic directions but still united through the sameconceptual instrumentality like intimacy, personal histories, symbols,critique of spirituality and sin.

Mosaikentalks about the mirage capacity of reality , about the beauty andresorts of fantastic realism, in the context of Romanian contemporaryart.

Eachartist exhibits a mosaic of works creating a personal world. There aretherefore five segments of mosaics. The subjects are distinctive andrepresentative to each one of them.

As a continuance of the concerns about the personal substance of the important people and events in her life, in the Mosaiken 5Project, Otilia tries to obtain an answer and a communication methodwith the world by portraying real characters in relation to innerfeelings, described in the aesthetic spirit of image to the fantasticregister.

Theconcepts described in this dialog are the human being and the animal asa visual mark of their spiritual quality. In this way Otilia is usingthe animal symbol in strong relationship to the human carrier.

I found this theme as being of utmost importance when I realized the state of physical and mental degradation that surrounds us and the trivial manifestation that seems to be the trend of our society. Thus I proposed to myself to unmask and ridicule them. I chose to do this accentuating the embarrassment with situation comic. I do this so that these vices will be better understood and raise the public awareness concerning them. My starting point was that even though vices are perceived as something bad people tend to indulge themselves and even live happy with their vices. This reality allowed me to build an allegory of subtle ironies.

For my works I chose to use bigger dimensions in order to create a powerful impact and also to accentuate the fact that most of the time these vices reach a point where they dominate us, growing out of control.

Lucrarea vine ca o urmare si completeaza seria de "Ferestre dejurnal", legandu-se de lucrarea "Colectii".
Exista colectii de tot felul, de obiecte, de arta, dar exista sicolectii de sentimente, de amintiri si de secrete, care desi nu suntpalpabile, ne preocupa mai mult. De cele mai multe ori ne ascundem secretelein locuri personale, dar nu uitam niciodata de ele. Eu am ascuns colectia de secretein colectia de cutii.
Despre multe secrete ne bucuram ca le avem si nu dorim sa le dezvaluimnimanui, despre altele am vrea sa nici nu fi existat vreodata. De aceea si pe unele si pe altele le suspendam.Pe unele de drag, pentru a le conserva, pe altele din dorinta de a nu ne maiaminti de ele.
In lucrare, secretele sunt deci ascunse in cutii, iar cutiile sunt prinsecu carlige fara a tine cont de volumul cutiei. Cutiile sunt ca niste imaginibidimensionale, desi optic sunt pictate sa aiba volum. Aceasta este o trimiterela faptul ca secretele nu sunt palpabile si totusi sunt foarte prezentein noi.
Unele cutii au umbra pe masa, semn ca secretele nu au ajuns sa fie totalsuspendate, inca sunt foarte proaspete.

This is my first animation that I made for the Diary Windows project.
It's not finished yet, but still you can intercept the main style and ideea.
The objects and the fantastic characters are cuted out from my paintings.
The animation should bind the paintings so that the characters can interact with each other.

Aceasta este prima mea animatie pe care am creat-o pentru proiectul Ferestre de Jurnal.
Nu este inca finalizata, dar va puteti face o idee despre stil si idee.
Obiectele si personajele fantastice sunt decupate din picturile mele.
Animatia are rolul de a lega picturile astfel incat personajele sa poata interactiona intre ele.

I denounce a fragment of my passions. The passion to collect old metal boxes is represented here just as a symbol. The tone of this work, compared to the others, changes entirely. It’s intensely coloured and cheerful. The window is closed, almost hidden, with curtains. On the inside there is enough balance not to search for it on the outside. Passions create inner balance.

It’s a return to childhood. Though the character swings she’s no longer a child. A long and happy childhood. Her memories are clear though sometimes cloudy. The window is open towards the inside. Her memories are inside. The Rhino is a symbol of manhood seen through the naivety of a child. A fantastic image, coloured and optimistic, full of contrasts. The Rhino could easily defy gravity with his soft and feathery wings.

Butterflies everywhere. Love is in the air. Two of them hang on to the faces of my characters and shadow their sight. Love is blind and full of hope. Love is fragranced like a flower’s nectar (butterflies of the battus philenor species feed only on flower nectar). It’s about a fresh, young relationship as the atmosphere is yet cold. Everything that happens is still uncertain and precarious. Defying this atmosphere, the window is wide open to the outside, denoting hope and desire. They both look delighted through the window, yet with a little uncertainty. The tree enters the room against the laws of perspective. One can’t fight destiny. When they reach maturity, the battus philenor butterflies are poisonous to defend against predators. Thus they protect all the species around them as predatory birds avoid them. These little flying symbols of protection are a delicate shield, watching over the love.

It’s a work full of contrasts and saddness. The character has a cold beauty, like the tiles surrounding her. The reptile is joining her, mechanized, industrialized, genetically changed. Instead of members it has wheels. Despite these features it is still warm and expressing happier feelings than the human. On the other hand, the crocodile is associated with a male partner. He tries to change her mood, to help her, but she ignores him. She sees a reptile because she is in fact influenced by other factors, transforming her in a cold, passive being. She is stuck in this state (the water drained but she’s still there). Negative feelings (the draining hole) drag her. Yet there’s a tentative of self defence. Weak, without much force and opposition (her hands crossed). “Outside” life is young (cherry flowers), but there’s also a storm coming. The storm will take away some of the flower petals. She sees bitter cherry-flowers, though in reality they are bitter-cherry flowers. The window is an opening to the outside without options. It looks permanent, not having a frame or glass. There’s no option to open or close as she wishes. It lacks the protective role, not having a glass. The storm will get everywhere. It’s a static agony, before the storm.

Remembering a painful moment. A tribute to a dear friend. A female dog. In my work I carry her in my arms on a “final journey”. I’d rather accompany her for the passage to be less painful. It’s an acknowledgement that in front of death we have no power. The only solution is to accept the situation and thus create a peaceful, serene atmosphere. I carry her in my arms like an angel, transformed by the sadness and helplessness. The entire scene is static, calm and cold, almost macabre. In this work symbols like the window disappear. The insinuation is to underline the impossibility of return and inability to stop the cycle of life. The window, the link to the outside, no longer exists in this case. A lot of black and dark, cold colours unravel a funerary chromatic.
